I contacted Aaron in February 2019 during a turbulent time in my life. When he spoke to me in those early days in recovery, he gave me such a sense of hope. He provided me with the tools and resources I needed to truly begin the healing process. He inspired me to accept that this journey involved the mind, body, and spirit. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous Google reviews as to Aaron’s character. I reached out to Sober Coaching mid-June. Aaron promptly called me back, we chatted and decided on a 2-week sober companion stay. Prior to this, I was lost in alcohol dependence, total isolation, depression and anxiety. This pattern had been going on for a decade or more. Other treatments failed, I believe, because they were not intensive enough, not tailored to my underlying issues, not holistic and not on location here at home where my triggers and habits needed to be identified and addressed. After two weeks and some follow up, I am free and living a glorious sober life. My days are filled with people, places and things that bring joy and a smile to my heart. My four children are grateful for the changes they see. Thank you Aaron, you are a very special person. This was the best investment of my life.

I could literally write pages and go into great detail about my experience with Aaron, but I’ll TRY to keep it concise. Aaron is one of the best things that have ever happened to me. With a lifelong history of substance abuse, I have been through a multitude of treatment facilities and programs. A family member recommended to my mom that I should go see Aaron. My parents (knowing that I had zero faith in any treatment programs) suggested that I might like Aaron after they looked him up themselves. Already naturally being a highly skeptical person, I reluctantly looked Aaron up and poured over his online presence. I was surprisingly impressed with what I saw and agreed to see Aaron. After our first meeting, I couldn’t believe it - I felt I found someone I could relate to. I can still remember the feeling of joy leaving the meeting. Feeling like “I think this is going to work” We didn’t meet in an office. He didn’t have me fill out a questionnaire. He didn’t sit across from me and take notes. While perhaps he had his own agenda and master plan in his head - I didn’t see it or feel it. We just simply talked. He asked. He listened. He offered advice. Each meeting I had with Aaron felt like a cleanse. I would always leave each meeting with profound new thoughts and words of wisdom. I would tell my parents and my girlfriend of each meeting I had with him. The thing I always tell everyone when talking about Aaron - There were maybe 4 meetings I had with him where at some small part of the conversation he would talk about something, recommend something, challenge me on something, etc. where I would genuinely feel I didn’t fully agree with him or that it didn’t apply to me and I’d think “Yeah, I appreciate it, but I don’t know about that”....... Then, by the time I would meet with him, through the course of going about my week, something would make me see and understand exactly what he was talking about! It would just click! Even outside of meetings with Aaron I would have “Ah-ha!” moments with something that he said. It would all come full circle. It always blew my mind. With Aaron I always felt I had a partner in my quest / struggle for sobriety. Like I was going at it alone. Aaron makes you WANT to be sober. I’m 2 years and 3 months clean and sober now. My life is drastically different. The things I have accomplished personally and professionally would have never come to fruition if I wasn’t sober. I’ve never felt better in my adult life. Aaron is truly a gift to humankind. Through me, his work will forever resonate throughout my entire family, friends, girlfriend, relations, and the interactions I have in society all over the world.

Aaron is a wonderful sober coach plus a wonderful life coach. The best part of working with Aaron is that he tailor fits your recovery to your specific needs; he does not work with a one-way approach to getting sober and staying sober. I had Gwen with me for 2 weeks, and it was a life-changing experience. I have been to in-patient rehab and outpatient rehab multiple times, but this experience allowed me to live my normal, everyday life with sober support that I could have never imagined. Gwen helped me with everyday coping strategies that have continued. The shock of leaving the “bubble” of a safe, nurturing rehabilitation situation… and entering back into the “real world” was removed. I didn’t have to deal with a “transition,” because the help and healing was incorporated into my everyday life. I cannot recommend Aaron and Gwen enough. They are truly sober angels!

4 years ago, my life was forever changed by Aaron! I can confidently say that without him, I wouldn’t be alive today. He has helped not only myself, but my family in more ways than I can express. Aaron knows how to reach all ages, genders, personalities, etc. When it comes to sober coaches, it is my opinion that there is nobody better. I am beyond thankful for the beautiful life that Aaron believed I could have before I could ever see it!

Fifteen years of bad decisions and drug abuse resulted in our 34 yr old son having a large stroke in late 2023. The brain damage left him with physical limitations and significant mental deficits - his ability to reason and control his thoughts, actions, and behavior was severely diminished. Sadly it also actually seemed to exacerbate his drug seeking behavior. Although the doctors told us he would never be the same again, we were determined to TRY to give him a path to some semblance of a better life. While on a soul-searching weekend filled with tears and prayer, we found Aaron online. Although it was quite evident that ours was NOT the typical case for Aaron, he still agreed to take our son - our family, really - as his client. Against overwhelming odds, Aaron spent two months one-on-one with our son 24x7, living in very difficult circumstances. The brain damage had left our son uncooperative, disrespectful, belligerent, even combative at times, but Aaron hung in through it all. We were AMAZED at Aaron's strength, character, dedication, resilience, and unwavering positivity - the man is incredible! In the end, we all had to accept that the Drs were right. The stroke caused physiological damage to our son's brain that simply cannot be overcome, so unfortunately our story does not have a happy ending. But regardless of the fact that we all knew the odds were stacked strongly against a successful outcome, Aaron was still willing to try - and he never gave up. He worked with our son day & night, did everything humanly possible - and then some - and did it all with a positive attitude that was ALWAYS uplifting and inspiring. He is a WARRIOR! We are so thankful for Aaron and the efforts he made to help our son, he has our eternal gratitude - and will be our friend - for life. THANK YOU AARON!! I pray that God will continue to bless you, your family, and all those you care for!

I just finished up 10 weeks with Coach Aaron Barnes. I have dealt with alcohol problems most of my life and he is the first person to give me TACTICAL actions that put an end to the destructive patterns that made it easy for me to choose to drink. Clinical counselors in my opinion are a joke. Aaron for me is the first of his kind. A COACH that knows how to help and holds you accountable. Not just a bunch of guys sitting in a circle complaining about how alcohol ruined their life. AARON BARNES IS SMART, KIND, FUNNY, AND GROUNDED IN COMPASSION, WITH A SOLID NETWORK OF RESOURCES Three years ago, on our family's darkest night of the soul, I cold-called Aaron Barnes, after finding his website. I had two adult children in the depths of depression and alcoholism, and we were all discouraged after trying everything (or so we thought). In our first conversation, Aaron led with grace and good humor, and as we made a plan,I could feel relief and hope uncurling in my soul. Three days later, Aaron arrived in our home town on the east coast to live with us and support our 26-year-old in finding the right path to recovery. Aaron lived with us for three weeks, and during that time, he offered many different scenarios, getting more and more creative as he got to know us better. Finally they hit on living on the west coast with a residential sober coach for 3-6 months. This approach was personal, it was kind, and would not have the group dynamics and tensions that had been overwhelming in past rehab situations. Aaron traveled with our kid and made sure that they were settled in the new place. The coach that Aaron referred us to was remarkable, and we finally felt that we had people who really got it. Almost three years later, this young person is still sober and feeling very confident in it. They have gotten a job in the field of their dreams, and they are happily ensconced in the 12-step-community. A few months later, Aaron flew to California at the request of our older child, who, at 29, was ready to talk about recovery and rehab. Aaron's flexibility and genius showed up in this case, because the situation was dramatically different, necessitating a different approach. Together they agreed upon a small, trauma-informed rehab center and again, Aaron escorted them to the program and ensured they were safe and happy before leaving. To say that this place was the perfect fit is an understatement. Aaron's careful, analytical and kind placement process ensured that it would be life-changing, and again, almost three years later, they are sober and launched in a career they love. In the interests of privacy, I am omitting detailed descriptions of the hardest work we all did with Aaron - there was fear and resistance on all sides of the family, and Aaron facilitated many hard conversations with skill, well-researched perspectives and an open heart. Over the past three years, Aaron has stayed in touch with all of us, and we can feel secure knowing that he is there if we need anything. He is family to us. We had tried other "concierges", "coaches" and "dual-diagnosis programs" but nobody does the real work of walking by somebody's side like Aaron Barnes!!
