Aaron Barnes is a nationally certified recovery coach, fitness and nutrition coach, and experienced sober companion who helps people from all walks of life build a stable, healthy life in long-term sobriety. He’s been featured in national media outlets including NBC, ABC, Fox, Cheddar News, Men’s Health, and Recovery Today Magazine, and he has spoken at treatment centers and sober living homes to encourage individuals and families pursuing recovery.
Aaron’s work is rooted in steady, practical support. As a professional sober coach, he serves as a personal recovery assistant—helping clients navigate real-life challenges that can show up weekly, daily, or even hourly. His approach is holistic and relationship-centered, and it often includes supporting families and loved ones so clients have the strongest possible foundation for lasting change.
Aaron understands addiction personally. He spent more than 20 years battling substance use and behavioral addictions and attended rehab three times. When he entered his third treatment center in Southern California, he was struggling with opioid, cocaine, and alcohol dependence. That lived experience gives him deep empathy for what recovery requires—and it’s a major reason he created Sober Coaching: to offer trustworthy guidance, accountability, and hope to people who are ready for a different life.
His passion is helping clients experience the freedom and purpose that sobriety can bring. Aaron encourages a healthy, active, sober lifestyle built on physical fitness, proper nutrition, consistent self-care, and a strong connection to the recovery community. He also emphasizes the importance of giving back—because service keeps recovery grounded and meaningful. Over the years, he has volunteered with organizations such as Golden Retriever Rescue, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Special Olympics. He also teaches Sunday school at his local church and serves in student ministry.
Aaron was born in Springfield, Missouri, and moved to Nebraska before finishing high school. He studied marketing at the University of Nebraska–Omaha. Above all, Aaron is a devout Christian and follower of Jesus Christ, and his faith shapes how he leads, serves, and supports others. He is married to his beautiful, supportive wife, has three children, and a grandson. Outside of work, he enjoys studying the word of God, hiking, traveling, exercising, and cooking.
